Muse on Rockin' On (Translation) - Part 3 of 3

current mood: geeky

This is a continuation of the interview with Muse on the Japanese magazine Rockin' On.
( Dominic Howard )
I can't seem to work the LJ-cut this morning. Was the function changed during my long LJ absence???
( Read more... )</div>

It was posted on the Muse messageboard, but I'm going to post it here as well. After all, it's my translation. :D I might go back to translating articles from magazines in near future.
It was sort of a strange process to translate interviews to English that were originally done in English and translated to Japanese. It would have easier if the interview recordings were released to public.
From the September 2009 issue of Rockin' On.
*Interviews with Dom and Chris to follow.
*** Translation by Cris****

This is a video, so all I have to do is to paste the link here. Notice there is no reaction from the interviewer. AHAHA!
There is no Japanese translation for this interview. Now that's strange.

Q#1: How do you feel about the success of the new album "Black Holes and Revelations?"
Q#2: What are the influences on the new album?
Q#3: Are there any new discoveries in this trip? How is this visit different from before?
Q#4: What are you looking forward to this years's Summer Sonic Festival?
Q#5: A few words to new Muse fans in Japan.

I don't have good pictures or videos today. Bummer... I am replacing cameras very soon.
Anyway, the show was great! I was wondering how Carl would appear on the stage with the broken collarbone. Man! He showed up with an Union Jack as a sling! How cool is that!
After reading several posts over in a japanese fan site about having 11 drummers on "Outsiders", I finally received an official count.
There were 11 drummers on "Outsiders"! Incredible!
The guest drummers were:
Zutons (3), The Cribs (3), The Spinto Band (1), ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION(1)
Wait! Something is missing!
Total 11 of them. What a party they had on the stage!
Here is the official news from their Japanese site.

One of my friends wrote that Alex was playing the keyboad with his head (i.e. hitting with his head). I can't wait to see the pictures of that! LOL!

OK! Forget the crap and get to the chase. Marissa, this is for you. Too bad you can't go to the show. It would have been an awesome show. This was my very first Muse show, and I'm so hooked!
We San Diegans are pretty laid back mellow bunch of people. I can't remember the last time I saw a mosh pit in a concert. So, I figured it's going to be a same old nice and mellow San Diego show.
I was SO wrong!!
I was pretty far from the stage at first and pretty much gave up on seeing the band on the stage. But as soon as the band appeared on the stage, the crowd went crazy and started pushing and shoving! It was a HUGE mess! I think they started with "Map of Problematique". One thing great about the mosh pit is you can somehow manage to move forward. I got to the third row from the front by the middle of the show while almost got squished or fell to the ground several times. Not bad!
I recorded "Supermassive Black Hole", which is my favorite song!! Can you tell I was pushed around the whole time?? LOL!!
By the way, there were several people passed out during this show. I saw some girls pulled up over the fence at the front by the securities. Later I found out that those were the ones.

I started recording "City of Delusion", but the crowd started clapping their hand over head and block my view. I had to stop there since there were all hands in the viewer. :P

Matthew is such an amazing musician, not to mention his beautiful falsetto. And how he plays his guitar! He is a genius on that instrument. Amazing. During "Invincible", at first I thought it was on a synthesizer with a sample or a program or something. NOOOO! He played the every note with his fingers! It was mesmerizing to watch the incredibly fast fingering on the guitar. I was very thankful to see this with my very own eyes.
He doesn't engage with the crowd, but oh so what. Well, it would have been nice if you looked at us and smiled a bit. Even Jack White did that a couple nights ago. Yes, I saw The Raconteurs this week at the same venue. I could not take my eyes off from him the whole time. Forget Brandon Benson.
Anyway, get back to Muse. They played the first encore with "The Knights of Cydonia" and another song, and they left the stage. But the audience was not done with them. We kept asking for more. BEHOLD!! They actually returned for a second encore! I don't think I've ever been a show that a band played a second encore! They must have known they were going to come back for the second time from the reactions of the crowd all night. They had to play "Take a Bow". They played us! And I don't mind it at all.
The amazing hour and 20 minutes of the sweaty and crazy show finally ended. I am officially obsessed with Muse. I am already looking forward to their next show.
Finally I took some decent pics.
